2013 4th Quarter Commentary

Overview This year was characterized by political unknowns, but few economic surprises. We began the year concerned about negative outcomes from budget fights and the impact of the sequester that went into effect during the first quarter. We then moved our attention to the comments from the Federal Reserve in regards to whether it would continue its bond buying program known as “Quantitative Easing.” We ended the year with a government shutdown and the implementation difficulties of the Affordable Care Act.
